nana's easy sponge cake
This is quite simply the simplest sponge cake recipe you will ever come across.
ingredience:
110 g Self raising flour 
110 g caster sugar
75 g soft margarine or butter
1 ˝ teaspoon baking powder
2 unbeaten eggs
1 - 2 tablespoons of warm water
Two 17cm (7") cake tins, greased and lined with baking parchment
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees c / 350 F / gas mark 4
Put all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, adding the water last. Mix with a wooden spoon for one minute then split the mixture between the two prepared tins.
Bake for 35 minutes in the oven. Let the cakes cool before removing them from the tins, and sandwich them together with buttercream, whipped cream, jam etc. to taste.
To make a chocolate sponge, take out 25g of flour and replace with cocoa powder
